Speaker 1 (01:11):
doesn’t know this, if you go to ThriveTimeShow.com, ThriveTimeShow.com, you’re going to see a massive amount of clients that I’ve helped to scale, to grow their business. And I’m going to take dog training out of it just for a second, and we’re going to focus on the restaurant, James. Then we’re going to focus on dog training and haircuts.
James (01:29):
Gotcha.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
And dentistry. Restaurant, dog training, haircuts, and dentistry. So when you go into a restaurant, one of my clients I work with, it’s in Florida. I won’t tell you the name of the business on today’s show, but you could find them by going to ThriveTimeShow.com and clicking on the testimonials button. When someone comes in to a restaurant for the first time, you have got to leave the customer in awe if you want to wow them. There’s just too many restaurants out there. You have to wow the customer. And this is some profound crap that I get into with my clients.
(02:01)
So if you go to this local pizzeria, you find them on Google, and we teach all of our clients how to come up top in Google and how to generate more leads. Those are all things we teach. Okay? But once the customer actually shows up at the restaurant, we have got to leave the customer in awe. A, the customer has to be amazed. W, they have to wonder, wow, how do you sustain this? It’s amazing. And then E, energy, and those are all emotional, general terms, but how do we get specific with it? James, if you went into a local pizzeria in Florida, would you expect overhead music to be playing?
James (02:35):
I would.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
And would the music need to be at the right atmosphere to match the beach environment?
James (02:40):
It would have to be, have to feel natural.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
So you got to have this… Someone has to think about the sights, the sounds, the smells, the way someone’s greeted. Now you transition that to dog training. Someone has to think about who answers the phone, what does the person say when they answer the phone? What does that first dog training lesson look like? What does that greeting look like? What do the packages look like? And all of it has to be designed to leave the customer in…
James (03:07):
Awe.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah. Because if the customer is wowed, this just in, they’ll refer you now. We’ve had customers in the businesses I’ve worked with that have literally left a review about the business before they’re even done with the service.
James (03:21):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Because they’re sitting at the restaurant, and let me walk you through this pizza restaurant in Florida. You want to hear how it goes?
James (03:26):
I do.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
All right, well I’m going to make up the name here, okay? Welcome to Clay’s Pizzeria. How are you?
James (03:32):
I’m great.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Are you looking for a table of two or three, or how many people are with your party?
James (03:36):
Five.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Five, okay, great. And is this your first time in?
James (03:39):
It is.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Oh, really? Well, the way it works is the first time in you get free appetizers on us or a free adult beverage. Okay? Now, for some free appetizers-
James (03:45):
Oh, wow.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
… or an adult beverage, we want to wow you guys. Let’s bring you back. Table of five. Table of five, here we go. Okay, we got some great beach view here. You guys want free appetizers or free beverages? What are you thinking? Free beverage or free appetizers? Or you want some time to look at the menu?
James (04:00):
Let’s get those drinks, baby.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Okay, so we get the free beverages, I come back, Hey guys, free beverages for you. Here you go. And by the way, today my entire mission is to wow you guys. That’s my focus today. So if I wow you at the end, let me know. But that’s the entire mindset I have today. I want to make sure your experience here is top-notch. So I’m going to leave you with the menu for a second. I’ll be right back.
James (04:25):
All right.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Come back, okay guys, do you want to place your order now?
James (04:28):
We’re ready.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Okay, and what do you want, sir?
James (04:30):
I want two large pizzas.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Two large pizzas for you, sir. For you ma’am. Okay, great. Got your order here. Again, my goal is to wow you guys. I want you guys to love this place. I’ll be back with you in just a minute. And to top off those drinks. Okay, boom. So this kind of customer service goes on all day. The whole time you’re there, you’re there 30 minutes, 40 minutes, an hour, whatever. And then I come back at the end, I say, Hey, was the experience good today guys? How was the food?
James (04:54):
It was great. Thank you.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Awesome. Well, a couple things for you. If you could leave a review today about your experience, I can get you a free dessert. Free dessert if you leave a review. Second thing is if you leave a review, you’re entered in for a chance to win a year of free pizza delivery defined as two pizzas a week. So you get two pizzas a week delivered, provided that you live in the area, if you want, or you have a chance to win a $1,000 gift card just by leaving a review.
James (05:19):
I’m leaving that review asap.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
And that’s what we do over and over and over. Now why is that important? Why is that a virtuous cycle of wow the customer, ask them for a review? Why is that such an important aspect of the business?
James (05:36):
Well, the reviews will get your website ranked on Google, and then you always know how your customers are treated.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
That’s how it works. And now if we hire somebody that’s not willing to live up to our customer service standards at Make Your Dog Epic or any other business I’m involved in, what do I do?
James (05:54):
You fire them.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Right, because I’m not going to spend my day trying to figure out why my customers are firing me. You have to either have to fire the employee who isn’t inspired or you have to be fired by the customer, but somebody has to be fired. The customer will fire you simply by taking their dollar somewhere else if you don’t fire employees that are not willing to do what’s required. So again, I always tell people you need to be fired up with enthusiasm or you will be fired with enthusiasm.
(06:20)
So now we get back into your dog training, right? So you say, well, how do you guys train dogs? How does it work? Well, the first lesson is 50 cents. So you’re going to try it out. I mean, it’s 50 cents. Why not try it out, right?
James (06:33):
What have you got to lose?
Speaker 1 (06:34):
And then we have three different packages designed to meet everybody’s budget and for families that are in need, we have scholarship options available. We also have price matching guarantees. So really at that point it’s just about picking up the phone and scheduling the first consultation. Now, when we do the first consultation, we do it in person. Why don’t we do the first consultation over the phone? Why do we actually want to meet you in person with your dog before we talk to you about a board and train dog training service, or before we talk to you about the ongoing Tulsa dog training services that we provide?
James (07:03):
Well, we want to show you that we could actually train your dog.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Right, right. And so I would just say this, if you’re out there today and you want to get your dog trained, you’ve come to the right place. Again, it’s Make Your Dog Epic Tulsa Dog Training. James, let’s continue reading from page 11 from the new hit book, Make Your Dog Epic.
James (07:21):
Do you own a business? Well, I have a long track record of helping people to grow businesses using best practice systems, processes, checklists, strategies, and moves that I use. Speaker 1 (08:00):
This is what we do over and over again. So let’s read from our next page of the new book here, Make Your Dog Epic. I’m going to skip ahead to this next page. We’re going to go to page number 13 and this is a letter or a note written to you today, folks, everybody out there, from one of our location operators. So she’s a licensed business. She has a licensed business based in Idaho. Her name is Darcy Denton, and she wanted to write a letter to all of our dog training clients to express her sentiments and feelings. So James, let it rip.
James (08:31):
Thank you for striving to make your dog epic. No matter what, life is about goals, lessons, and learning. And isn’t that such a great and wonderful thing? It allows us to take things less seriously and have some fun whiling away at lessons we don’t know we have the opportunity to learn. Each dog provides us with new opportunities to learn and grow with them. After training over 2000 dogs, over six-plus years, we are still learning lessons to this day. Dogs are the most marvelous and inspiring, heartwarming companions we could ever dream of. Your experience with training should be lessons for you and your dog, and there are always more lessons to learn. Learning, as most of us know, can take effort, patience, mistakes, time, energy, effort, and a lot of help. It can seem daunting or confusing at times because it is new. That is part of the process and you will be so glad you stayed the course.
(09:30)
It gives us understanding, patience, love, compassion, understanding, empathy, skills, tools, wisdom, knowledge, experience, results, and so much more. As the committed student you are, please remember, we are here for you and to help you, whether it is something you want to hear or not. We are here to find solutions that work for you, your dog, and your lives together through practice makes progress. And we always want to be enabling you to progress together. Your bond with your dog and the amount of freedom through discipline and understanding will grow together, and we want to be a part of that journey with you.
(10:07)
Every human is different, every dog is different, and every lifestyle is different. Our training can fit into whatever that combination looks like for your family. You inspire us to continue to be better. You bring joy to our day by enabling us to spend time with you and your pups every day. Our team is your support system and we will always have your best interest at heart as long as you need us. We thrive and are delighted in seeing you and your dog have more understanding and joy together. In your corner through this world of companion, learning, and joy. Sincerely, Darcy Denton.
Speaker 1 (10:45):

And James, we like to end every broadcast and podcast with a motivational phrase we like to say. James, what is that?
James (11:07):
We’ll see you in five minutes, Clay.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Is your dog and furry friend holding you hostage? Will your dog not stop pulling on its leash and eating your sausage? Who wrote that? Well, I don’t mean to brag, but I actually wrote it and, wow, it rhymes. People dig it, like a dog. You get it? Okay, so I’m just going to keep reading. Will your dog not stop jumping on you or pooping in your house like you’re on the set of Jumanji or living in a zoo? It only took me two weeks to write that line while sitting at the base of a waterfall, while gazing upon my epic dog. The dog that once held me hostage was now my best friend.
James (11:47):
It’s so good.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
The dog that would never listen was now all ears.
James (11:52):
It’s so good. I just want to cry.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Pull yourself together, man. And if you, too, want to transform your dog from a furry terrorist into your best friend, what you need to do is schedule your first lesson at MakeYourDogEpic.com, where your first lesson is always just 50 cents. And with the savings, you can use that to pay the rent. Again, your first lesson is always just 50 cents at MakeYourDogEpic.com.
James (12:18):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Stop the endless barking, reduce the aggressive behaviors, prevent dog jumping, stop your dog from chasing the elderly UPS driver as he attempts to deliver a package. Stop your dog from biting Pam, your yoga pants wearing neighbor as she just attempts to speed walk in peace. Stop your dog from eating your wife’s wedding dress and peeing in your closet on top of your Christmas gifts. Stop the madness at MakeYourDogEpic.com. Experience the revolutionary focus-based positive reinforcement training and methodology. Our goal is dog obedience, but never at the expense of dog personality. It’s the same dog, but now it’s all ears.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
Wow.
James (13:01):
Man, Carl. You are a talented vocal artist.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Well, well, I-
James (13:07):
I can sense your… I can feel the passion. It’s contagious.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
Well, my friend, I am passionate about the product. I once went 60 days without sleeping.
James (13:17):
Really?
Speaker 1 (13:17):
My wife’s wedding dress got eaten and my neighbor, Pam, was bitten by my dog, and-
James (13:22):
Oh, man.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
My quality of life was at an all-time low. I actually didn’t have an… I didn’t invite people over to my home for months because of the new dog. And I always smelled like urine.
James (13:32):
You do still smell a little bit like dog urine. Just a little.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Well, I made my dog epic. I was hostage. And that’s where the passion comes from. You’ve got to believe in your product and you’ve got to project from the diaphragm.
James (13:43):
The diaphragm.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
You’ve got to bend your knees.
James (13:44):
Bend the knees, bend the knees.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
You’ve got to drink ginger.
James (13:47):
Drink the ginger.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
And you’ve got to ingest the apple cider vinegar.
James (13:51):
Apple cider. I can do that.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
And with a dog bone, you want to chew on the dog bone before them.
James (13:55):
Hard pass. Not going to-
Speaker 1 (13:56):
And recording so that you can emulate the dog. And you should listen to Atomic Dog.
James (14:02):
I can do that.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
But you’re not a dog. But you want to just chew on the bone, the oversized bone, not the regular sized bone [inaudible 00:14:11].
James (14:11):
Hard pass. Just not going to-
Speaker 1 (14:11):
You want to-
James (14:11):
Not going to chew on the bone.
