(00:47)
Now, having trained thousands of Tulsa dogs, what we have found here at Make Your Dog Epic, what we found is that many wonderful website visitors like yourself often don’t know what the ideal age is to train their new dog. Yes, they have a new Tulsa dog, a new Tulsa puppy, and they don’t know, is it a good time now to start training my dog, or is it too early? And although we would love to answer this question very succinctly for you, because we know you’re a dog lover and you want the answers quickly, I really want to tell you this: that the answer is really based upon the breed of your Tulsa dog, the weight of your Tulsa dog, and in the environment that you choose to raise your Tulsa dog in.
(01:29)
You see, over the years, we’ve seen thousands of Tulsa dogs do very well when they first start their official puppy training, dog obedience training at just the age of five months old or less. However, we’ve seen other puppies that couldn’t start obedience training until way later in age, and that’s because it has to do with the environment of the dog that your dog is in on a daily basis. Now, if you get a puppy, if you get a puppy… We call this socialization. Socialization. So if you get a new puppy and you take that puppy with you to and fro, you take that puppy with you to the store, you take that puppy with you to the park, you take that puppy with you to baseball games and all over the place, what’s going to happen is you’re going to have a dog, a puppy that is going to be easily adaptable to all different kinds of situations. Your dog’s going to have a nice situational awareness.
(02:25)
As an example, a loud bang might not freak out your puppy too much. When your puppy steps on a new kind of flooring, whether it’s wood or carpet, or even water, these different textures, different surfaces can freak out a new dog unless the dog’s been socialized. If you take your dog with you from A to B and your dog’s heard other dogs bark, if your dog’s been around other dogs before, it’s probably going to be more coachable than if it hasn’t. If you turn your vacuum cleaner on around your dog and you do it routinely, your puppy probably will not freak out the first time it encounters a vacuum. So what you want to do, if you want to get your new puppy trained as quickly as possible, is you want to start socializing that puppy. So you want to take that puppy with you to the store, you want to take that puppy with you to the baseball game, to the basketball game, to the cheerleading classes. It’s really important that you take that puppy with you everywhere possible.
(03:17)
Now, I highly recommend not taking your puppy to be around an old aggressive dog. I’d recommend you don’t take your puppy to a place where it can be attacked violently by other dogs, but you do want to take your puppy with you in the car. You want to take your puppy with you everywhere so that your puppy is socially okay with different environments. If you’re going to go for a run or a jog, take your puppy with you. If you’re going to go watch a movie at your house, turn the movie on and let your puppy watch the movie. You just really want to get your puppy to a place and space where your puppy is comfortable being around other dogs, other situations, and other sounds. Now, that being said, once your dog is comfortable with being around other dogs, at that point, we recommend that really, we’d like to start training puppies around the age of around seven months old.
(04:13)
Now, it could be that your dog is able to be trained at a younger age, but about seven months old is a good time in which to start training your dog. Now, another thing we want to point out to you is we want to introduce our dogs to sounds beyond just the day to day. I mean, the sounds of chickens, the sounds of waterfalls, the sounds of pool cleaning people. You just want to expose your dog to as many different environments you can as quickly as you can so that your dog becomes socialized. Because if you decide that you want to socialize your dog by taking it to a city park or a local park, and it’s never been around another dog before, it may freak out. So we want all those new experiences to happen as quickly as possible. We want to potty train your dog as quickly as possible so that it does not smell like the inside of a dog’s bladder. We want to do that for you.
(05:10)
However, when you get a dog, if you have a small dog, just know that small dogs typically have a small bladder when they’re young, and that’s because the dog has not mentally and physically matured enough to get to a place where it has total bladder control. So don’t feel bad about it, but just know that when you first get a new dog, your dog might not be at the right time for dog training. So the best thing you can do right now, if your dog is a very young dog, a brand new puppy, is take your dog with you everywhere you go so that your dog can be properly socialized and it can get to a place where your dog is coachable and approachable. And therefore, when we or another dog training expert company sits down and works with your dog, we’re going to be able to have effective Tulsa puppy training that is done.
(06:02)

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Is your dog and furry friend holding you hostage? Will your dog not stop pulling on its leash and eating your sausage? Who wrote that? Well, I don’t mean to brag, but I actually wrote it and wow, it rhymes. People dig it. Like a dog. You get it? Okay, so I’m just going to keep reading.
(07:28)
Will your dog not stop jumping on you or pooping in your house, like you’re on the set of Jumanji or living in a zoo? It only took me two weeks to write that line while sitting at the base of a waterfall while gazing upon my epic dog. The dog that once held me hostage was now my best friend.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
It’s so good.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
The dog that would never listen was now all ears.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
It’s so good. I just want to cry.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Pull yourself together, man. And if you too want to transform your dog from a furry terrorist into your best friend, what you need to do is schedule your first lesson at makeyourdogepic.com, where your first lesson is always just 50 cents. Stop your dog from biting Pam, your yoga pants wearing neighbor as she just attempts to speed walk in peace. Stop your dog from eating your wife’s wedding dress and peeing in your closet on top of your Christmas gifts. Stop the madness at makeyourdogepic.com. Experience the revolutionary focus-based positive reinforcement training and methodology. Our goal is dog obedience, but never at the expense of dog personality. It’s the same dog, but now it’s all ears.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Wow. Man, Carl. You are a talented vocal artist.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Well, I…
Speaker 3 (09:08):
I can feel the passion. It’s contagious.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Well, my friend, I am passionate about the product. I once went 60 days without sleeping.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Really?
Speaker 2 (09:18):
My wife’s wedding dress got eaten and my neighbor Pam was bitten by my dog.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Oh, man.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
My quality of life was at all-time low. I actually, I didn’t invite people over to my home for months because of the new dog, and I always smelled like urine.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
You do still smell a little bit like dog urine. Just a little.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Well, I made my dog epic. I was hostage, and that’s where the passion comes from. You’ve got to believe in your product and you’ve got to project from the diaphragm.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
The diaphragm.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
You’ve got to bend your knees.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Bend the knees, bend the knees.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
Drink ginger.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Drink the ginger.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
You’ve got to ingest apple cider vinegar.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Apple cider. I can do that.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
With a dog bone. You want to chew on the dog bone.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Hard pass. I’m not going to-
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Recording so that you can emulate the dog. And you should listen to Atomic Dog.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
I can do that.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
But you’re not a dog, but you want to just chew on the bone. The oversized bone, not the regular size. You want to-
Speaker 3 (10:11):
Hard pass. Just not going to chew on the bone.
