Show Transcript

Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, welcome back to the Make Your Dog Epic Tulsa Dog Training podcast. On today’s show, we’re talking about the best Tulsa dog training. I mean, James, there’s a lot of great dog trainers out there, and if somebody does a quick search on Google for Tulsa dog training, you’re going to find there are a lot of dog trainers in the game. One could argue thousands of dog trainers, and specifically, maybe in the Tulsa, Oklahoma, area, there could be dozens of good dog training companies out there. But what makes the best Tulsa dog training experience? I want to ask you if you were rating the best Tulsa dog trainers, what would be things that you would be looking for if you were the judge, the judge and jury of all things dog training?

James (00:49):
Well, I’m a results guy, so I want to see the results of the training, and then I want to know if the trainer’s going to be there for me and for the dog in the future.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
So a lot of dog trainers, they say they focus on building engagement with the dog. They focus on obedience and behavioral issues. There’s even services that claim to have psychiatric service for dog training. And I don’t know what that looks like. I don’t know that I want to know what that looks like, but I can say here at Make Your Dog Epic, we believe we offer the best Tulsa dog training because we offer the first lesson for just 50 cents.

James (01:24):
Boom.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
So it’s kind of like, I mean, if you paid 50 cents and you go, “I don’t know if that was worth it.” I mean, you’re not 50 cents, right? But it also allows us to assess the kind of dog you have, the weight of the dog, the breed of the dog, the behavior patterns of the dog so that we can tell you whether we can train the dog or not and how long it’s going to take to train the dog. Now we’re going to read here from page 21 of my newest book called Make Your Dog Epic, page 21, chapter four. James, please read a bump from page 21, sir.

James (01:55):
So this is the carrot and focus, and you want to focus on core tasks until success philosophy. So when you’re growing a business, most of the time it isn’t necessary to reinvent the wheel. Most things have already been done, so you must simply study the proven processes and best practice systems. That is what we have done at Make Your Dog Epic. Since 1999, I have seen and built many different businesses, and in many different industries, I have seen many different methods, systems, and philosophies in dog training, whether it is classical conditioning, operant conditioning, positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, escape learning, avoidance learning, balanced training, attention-based training, addition of stimulus, or removal of stimulus.

(02:46)
I have studied many different dog training methods. When training dogs, we don’t want dogs to be reliant on treats. As example, when you have an employee who works for, let’s say, 10 bucks an hour, which is great, and it motivates them to do it, however they are expecting a paycheck. If they don’t receive the paycheck, they’re going to think, “Why am I doing this?” Then eventually, they will stop going to work. Additionally, if the employee sees another job is hiring for two times what you’re paying per hour and it’s going to be more fun, they will usually take that job immediately. This is because people without loyalty will immediately pick the higher-value object without even trying to create a win-win and sustainable relationship with their boss.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Now, just to be clear, this is why, when we train with the dogs, we don’t just provide only positive reinforcement. We have to sometimes provide a level of discipline and rigor, and we’re not going to hurt the dog, but we want to make sure that the dog understands, “Hey, there are rewards available for doing a good job.” But there’s also correction if the dog is misbehaving, and that’s our system. And again, the first lesson is just 50 cents, and I don’t know how to overstress that enough, but James, I mean, what does that, if you’re a consumer and you look around and you go, “Man, this guy’s going to train my dog for 50 cents.” What are you thinking?

James (04:07):
I’m thinking if someone’s going to come over to my house for 50 cents, I want to meet this guy.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
I mean, it’s the best Tulsa dog training possible. Let’s continue on page 22 of my newest book, which is hot. This book is called Make Your Dog Epic. It’s a humble read. It’s a humble book that I’ve written. Okay, James, let’s continue.

James (04:27):
Here we go. At Make Your Dog Epic, we know of many of the different popular styles and methodologies that exist within the dog training world. We also believe every single training method has its pros and its cons for the dog and for the owner as well. At Make Your Dog Epic, we have created a dog training company where our goal is to take the best trainers, support them to do what they do best, train. When you combine that with including a positive experience with each dog, you can’t go wrong. The result is that we have created a company of dog trainers that we truly believe to be all around the best, the best for the dogs and for great humans like you.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
You know, now there’s some dangers out there. If you go with a dog training service that only does negative reinforcement, what can happen is, and these are dangerous situations, James, this is some dangerous…

James (05:21):
Dangerous zone.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
I mean, this could really go bad for your dog, Cujo, White Fang, or whoever you call your dog. If you want us to train your dog and you’ve already taken your dog to a place that does only negative reinforcement dog training. Let me tell you some of the things that could happen. Are you ready?

James (05:39):
I’m ready.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
One is the dog. It could have a bad attitude now. The dog’s attitude may have been ruined. I mean, if a trainer is constantly harshly mentoring a dog over time, the dog just loses its attitude. The dog, it becomes, it’s like a pureed puppy.

James (05:57):
A sad dog.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
It’s a sad dog. Yeah, we’ve all seen a sad dog, haven’t we?

James (06:00):
We have.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Okay. Also, it can make aggressive dogs even more aggressive. You might have a dog that is White Fang or Cujo, or a pretty aggressive dog, and if somebody uses negative reinforcement to train that dog, you might get back a wooly mammoth that eats humans. I’m just saying. It can actually make the dog worse. It can happen. Now, another thing is there are these dog training methods out there where people use a shock collar, like an unbelievable, an aggressive collar. And what that can do is that can really scare a dog. It can freak out a dog. I don’t know how you’d feel having a massive, aggressive shock collar on your cranium or around your neck. That probably isn’t the move. And so, what we found here at Make Your Dog Epic is we have what’s called the focused-based positive reinforcement training.

James (06:53):
Boom.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
And this is the best of both worlds. And so, if you have gone online and looked at all the different dog training services and systems, this method is going to be the best. I promise you’re going to absolutely love it. And that’s why the first lesson is how much, James?

James (07:08):
50 cents!

Speaker 1 (07:09):
50 cents. James, let’s go to page 23 of the new book. Make Your Dog Epic here. Got some notable quotables here. First notable quotable coming in from Napoleon Hill, the bestselling self-help author of Think and Grow Rich, what does he have to say?

James (07:22):
He says, “Drifting, without aim or purpose, is the first cause of failure.”

Speaker 1 (07:28):
So what happens is a lot of people that get a dog, they don’t know how to train the dog. They haven’t found the best Tulsa dog training. So they start to sort of drift around. They say, “Let’s try this today. Let’s throw the dog a bone. See what happens. Let’s try this method over here to stop the potty problems. Let’s try this positive reinforcement thing. Let’s try this. Let’s try that. Let’s watch this YouTube video. Let’s do this.” And if you do a bunch of systems that a little bit at a time and you’re trying all different moves, it’s not going to work because drifting without aim or purpose is the first cause of failure. Now, the next notable quotable, well, this comes from Brian Tracy, the bestselling self-help author. What does he have to say?

James (08:07):
“All successful people and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose.”

Speaker 1 (08:22):
So if you’re out there listening today and you dream of having a dog that’s well-behaved, that’s good, but now we got to go from where your dog is to where you want your dog to be. And so, James, if you were out there today, let’s say you’re at a big trade show and there are thousands of people at the trade show, and you’ve got that trade show mic. And the people who came to the trade show are dog owners. And you could just get on that mic and tell those trade show people, this is what you want to do. What would you tell them to do?

James (08:48):
Hey, the first lesson’s only 50 cents. You got to get here and sign up right now.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
And then the people would go, “Ah, it’s crazy. How’s it possible?” Well, it’s possible because after that first lesson for 50 cents, you’re going to be so blown away with the level of quality that we provide. You’re going to want to sign up. And then we have three different packages. We also have scholarship pricing to make it affordable for everybody. And James, if you can believe this, and we have a price match guarantee special that we run from time to time. So all of this is available at Make Your Dog Epic. Again, home of the best Tulsa dog training. James, we like to end every show with a little tagline that we’ve created. Do you want to [inaudible 00:09:28] the listeners out there, sir?

James (09:28):
Hey, we’ll see you in five minutes.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Is your dog and friend holding you hostage?

James (09:35):
Will your dog not stop pulling on its leash and eating your sausage? Who wrote that?

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Well, I don’t mean to brag, but I actually wrote it and-

James (09:43):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
-It rhymes. People dig it like a dog. You get it?

James (09:48):
Okay, so I’m just going to keep reading. Will your dog not stop jumping on you or pooping in your house like you’re on the set of Jumanji or living in a zoo?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
It only took me two weeks to write that line while sitting at the base of a waterfall while gazing upon my epic dog. The dog that once held me hostage, was now my best friend.

James (10:09):
It’s so good.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
The dog that would never listen was now all ears.

James (10:13):
It’s so good. I just want to cry.

Speaker 1 (10:15):

Wow, Mancar, you are a talented vocal artist.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Well, well…

James (11:30):
I can feel the passion. It’s contagious.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Well, my friend, I am passionate about the product. I once went 60 days without sleeping.

James (11:39):
Really?

Speaker 1 (11:39):
My wife’s wedding dress got eaten, and my neighbor Pam was bitten by my dog and-

James (11:44):
Oh man.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
-My quality of life was at an all-time low. I actually, I didn’t invite people over to my home for months because of the new dog. And I always smelled like urine.

James (11:54):
You do still smell a little bit like dog urine. Just a little.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
Well, I made my dog epic. I was a hostage. And that’s where the passion comes from. You’ve got to believe in your product, and you’ve got to project from the diaphragm.

James (12:05):
The diaphragm.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
You got to bend your knees.

James (12:07):
Bend the knees, bend the knees.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Drink ginger.

James (12:09):
Drink the ginger.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
And you’ve ingest apple cider vinegar.

James (12:13):
Apple cider vinegar. I can do that.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
And with a dog bone, you want chew on the dog bone before the-

James (12:17):
Hard pass, I’m not going to.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
-Recording so that you can emulate the dog. And you should listen to Atomic Dog.

James (12:17):
I can do that.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
But you’re not a dog.

James (12:17):
Right.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
But you want to just chew on the bone, get the oversized bone, not the regularized sized bone.

James (12:17):
Hard pass, not going to… [inaudible 00:12:25] Not going to chew on the bone.
