Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, folks, we are back and better than ever here on the Make Your Dog Epic Tulsa Dog Training podcast. Now, on this show, if you can believe it, James, we’re going to talk about how many lessons does it take to train a Tulsa dog. How many lessons does it take to train a Tulsa dog? But before we do that, James, I have this new… It’s a hit book. It’s a smash book. James, people love the book. It’s called Make Your Dog Epic. And you know why I wrote the book, James?
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Because you love to write books?
Speaker 1 (00:30):
I love to write books. Not only that, I think more than I love to write books, if it’s possible, I think I love training dogs more than that. I think that’s a passion of mine. It’s just exciting to see it. James, it’s exciting to see. When somebody brings in a dog, White Fang or Cujo, and that dog is just biting and jumping and causing stress for the dog owner, that’s not the look. That’s not a good place to be.
(00:55)
James, when somebody has a dog, and we’ve listed these at makeyourdogepic.com, when someone has a dog that’s digging massive holes, it’s stealing items from the table, when you have a dog that’s running away, when you have a dog that’s pooping in your bathtub… Could you believe it? When you have a dog that’s demonstrating embarrassing behavior in front of the veterinarian, you’re taking your dog to the veterinarian and your dog’s just like, “I’m not going to veterinarian.” And you’re going, “Oh, you’re going.” And the dog wins the argument. If you have a dog that growls at the neighbors, I mean, it could just… I’d hate to belabor this, James, though. I hate to belabor. But it’s always embarrassing when the dog barks at the neighbors.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Every time.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
It could cause a man to have depression. But we push through it. And I just thought I would get people to look into the table of contents of the new hit book, Make Your Dog Epic. And again, we’re honing in here on how many lessons does it take to train a Tulsa dog. James, what’s chapter one of the book about there, Make Your Dog Epic?
Speaker 2 (01:54):
That’s about the power of the weekly meeting.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Oof. Okay, chapter number two is what?
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Tracking.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Got to track, okay.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
You’ve got to track.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
We always track the results. We want to make sure that your dog is getting trained properly. We can’t skip a day, skip a week. “Oops, I forgot.” We’ve got to have systems. Chapter three, James.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Don’t reinvent the wheel. You want to follow proven processes and the success system.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Everything’s checklist driven here. We’re not going to forget about White Fang or Cujo or the dog from Taco Bell. No, no, your dog is important to us. We’re going to train it through a diligent step-by-step system that we’ve created, James.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Nice. And so the next chapter four, The Carrot and the Focus.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
You got to have the carrot for the dog. The dog has to know it has that positive reinforcement. The dog has to know that, James. Continue.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Chapter five is The Boom Method.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
The Boom Method. Tell us what the boom method is.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Oh, this is the best method. It’s big expectations, overwhelming encouragement, optimistic and consistent feedback, and more repetition until mastery occurs.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
That’s how you train a dog. You don’t just drift your way into dog training success. So someone’s asking today, they’re saying, “Hey, I’m listening to this podcast because I want to know specifically how many lessons does it take to train a dog?” Well, I’m going to get to that, folks, but I’ll tell you this. Napoleon Hill, the bestselling author of Think and Grow Rich, this is the top-selling self-help author of all time, he says, “A goal is a dream with a deadline.”
(03:17)
So what we do when we train your dog is we don’t just say, “Oh, we’ll do our best. We’ll try to get your dog trained.” No, we’re going to tell you, “This is the deadline. You’re going to get your dog trained in this amount of time or faster.” And then James, when we get the dog back to the office, back to the training facility… James, you were you in the military.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Yes, sir.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
How long were you in the military?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Four years.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
You showed up, and did you have a bootcamp you went to? How’d it go?
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah, we had a bootcamp. You know what? Everyone does what you’re told.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Right. And because it’s a system, it’s a process to get you guys into fighting shape. Now, we’re trying to get these dogs into a great level of coachability. And so we have a proven process that we take the dogs down. James, let’s go back to our chapters here in Make Your Dog Epic, the book.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
All right, so chapter six is The Group Interview.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Now, this is important because we have incredible dog trainers that work for us, but every single week, we interview people that want to become a dog trainer. And I cannot stress the importance of this because we have so many people that want us to train their dog, and a lot of times we have to say no. We say we’re all booked out because we don’t have enough dog trainers. We can only train, on a typical week, about 10 dogs a week. So we’re always looking for the next group of people that we can train up to become an excellent Tulsa dog trainer.
(04:33)
James, back to you, sir.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Chapter seven, we have Gather Objective Google Reviews From Happy Customers and Why Your Online Reputation Determines the Amount of Your Compensation.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
It’s so important that we make sure every single dog is trained properly. We want every dog that leaves our operation to leave… We want the dog to be happy. We want the owner of the dog to be happy. We want the dog to be well-trained. It’s so important, James, because that’s how people make buying decisions. People decide to buy based upon, they look up the reviews, they look at the quality of the service. And as the highest rated, most reviewed dog trainer in Oklahoma, and potentially the planet, we obsess on gathering objective Google reviews. It’s a very important thing, James. Let’s continue.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Chapter eight, Gather Objective Video Reviews From Happy Customers.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
That’s always a home run. Not every customer wants to participate in the video review. I get it. But we try to capture video footage so that you can see what happy customers have to say. It’s a big thing. It really does work. It moves mountains. And over time, more and more people say they find us online because of those objective Google and video reviews we’ve gathered from our Tulsa dog training clients.
(05:48)
James, what’s the next chapter about?
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Never Stop Advertising and Why Without Leads Your Business Bleeds.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
This is important. I’m going to do a search right now on Google for Tulsa dog training. I do a search for Tulsa dog training, I can tell you the people that are at the top of the search results, they didn’t get there overnight, James. They got there as a result of having people on their team diligently add content and gather those reviews.
(06:15)
Now, over time, it’s hard to be diligent. It’s hard to be consistent. It’s hard for people to stay on track, on target, but that’s what we do, James. We don’t drift. We stay focused, we stay on target, and we just make sure that we consistently offer a great quality dog training service so people come back year after year.
(06:34)
James, let’s continue, sir.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
The next chapter is Our Commitment to You.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
What chapter is that?
Speaker 2 (06:40):
That’s chapter 10.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Oh, chapter 10, what an incredible chapter, chapter 10. Our Commitment to You. In that chapter, we walk you through our commitment and our approach to Tulsa dog training. That way you’re confident that you know the answers to questions like how many lessons will it take to train your Tulsa dog?
Speaker 2 (06:59):
And the next chapter, chapter 11, How Long Does it Take to Train Your Dog?
Speaker 1 (07:03):
What we’re talking about, yeah. Now with package A, just so we know, when we meet you, the first lesson is 50 cents. The first lesson is 50 cents, but then we have three different packages we present you with. We present you with package A, B, or C. Package A takes about a week to train your dog. Package B takes about two weeks to train your dog. Package C takes about three weeks. Package C takes about three weeks.
(07:24)
Now, we do have scholarship options to make this affordable for everybody. We also have some price match guarantee specials we run from time to time. But that first lesson is always 50 cents, and I cannot stress that enough, James.
(07:37)
Let’s continue. What’s the next chapter there, sir, of Make Your Dog Epic?
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Chapter 12, The 10 Rules of Potty Training Success.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
It’s so important you know these 10 rules. If you just know nine of the rules, you’re going to miss out, because if you have a dog that’s not properly potty-trained, well, one, you’re going to have urine stains all over the place, and that’s not a look. That’s not the look you want to have. James, what’s the next chapter?
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Chapter 13, The Path to Promotion and Becoming the Perfect Employee.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
We list that in our book because we want our employees to know the path to promotion, and we also want our customers to know the path to promotion that our employees had to go down. We want our customers to know the path to promotion that our employees had to go down. It’s just very important that you know that path to promotion. And the final chapter, James.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Is Chapter 14, Would You Like to Own a Make Your Dog Epic Business and Location?
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Would You Like to Own a Make Your Dog Epic Licensed Business? I think you might. And if you’re out there today and you say, “I’d kind of like to know more about it,” you just go to makeyourdogepic.com, makeyourdogepic.com. And what’s great about Make Your Dog Epic is that first lesson for all of our customers is just 50 cents. And if you want to open up a licensed Make Your Dog Epic location, the consultation’s free.
(08:53)
And James, you want to know how long it takes takes to become a Make Your Dog Epic licensed dog trainer?
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Maybe 60 days.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Let’s say 60 days. You know how much money it costs to pay to go to dog training school? There’s a lot of great dog training schools out there, but do you know how much it would cost, depending upon which dog training school you go to?
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Maybe like 30 grand.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Oh, like five grand.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Dude.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Dude.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Bro, I’m being serious. It’s about $5,000 to learn the skill. But it does take a long time to… Once you learn how to train a dog and you’re a competent dog trainer, now you’ve got to go back home. Now you’ve got to get the website optimized. Now you’ve got to build the print piece. There’s all these things that go into running a business.
(09:33)
Now, the great thing about opening a licensed location is that we have most of those systems in place for you. And so it really is $5,000, 60 days, and boom, you too could become a Make Your Dog Epic licensed dog trainer.
(09:48)
Now, the difference between franchising and franchising is this: If you’re a licensed location, you have a little bit more freedom to do what you want to do. We can’t really control you from a corporate level. Now, if it’s a license, you’re held accountable to certain standards, and we want you to have a little more freedom as an operator, so that’s why we chose the licensed method. But again, to learn more, just go to makeyourdogepic.com, it’s makeyourdogepic.com. And hopefully that answers the question to how many lessons does it take to train a Tulsa dog.
(10:17)
And James, we like to end each and every podcast that we do here at Make Your Dog Epic by saying our little final phrase that pays. And what is that, James?
Speaker 2 (10:25):
We’ll see you in five minutes, Clay.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Is your dog and furry friend holding you hostage?
Speaker 4 (10:30):
Will your dog not stop pulling on its leash and eating your sausage? Who wrote that?
Speaker 3 (10:35):
Well, I don’t mean to brag, but I actually wrote it and…
Speaker 4 (10:38):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
It rhymes. People dig it, like a dog. You get it?
Speaker 4 (10:43):
Okay, so I’m just going to keep reading. Will your dog not stop jumping on you or pooping in your house like you’re on the set of Jumanji or living in a zoo?
Speaker 3 (10:53):
It only took me two weeks to write that line while sitting at the base of a waterfall while gazing upon my epic dog. The dog that once held me hostage was now my best friend.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
It’s so good.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
The dog that would never listen was now all ears.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
It’s so good. I just want to cry.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
Pull yourself together, man. And if you too want to transform your dog from a furry terrorist into your best friend, what you need to do is schedule your first lesson at makeyourdogepic.com, where your first lesson is always just 50 cents. And with the savings, you can use that to pay the rent. Again, your first lesson is always just 50 cents at makeyourdogepic.com.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
Stop the endless barking, reduce the aggressive behaviors, prevent dog jumping, stop your dog from chasing the elderly UPS driver as he attempts to deliver a package. Stop your dog from biting Pam, your yoga pants wearing neighbor, as she just attempts to speed walk in peace. Stop your dog from eating your wife’s wedding dress and peeing in your closet on top of your Christmas gifts. Stop the madness at makeyourdogepic.com.
(12:02)
Experience the revolutionary focus-based positive reinforcement training and methodology. Our goal is dog obedience, but never at the expense of dog personality. It’s the same dog, but now it’s all ears.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Wow. Man, Carl, you are a talented vocal artist.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Well, I…
Speaker 4 (12:24):
I can feel the passion. It’s contagious.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Well, my friend, I am passionate about the product. I once went 60 days without sleeping.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
Really?
Speaker 3 (12:34):
My wife’s wedding dress got eaten, and my neighbor Pam was bitten by my dog.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
Oh, man.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
My quality of life was at an all time low. I actually didn’t invite people over to my home for months because of the new dog. And I always smelled like urine.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
You do still smell a little bit like dog urine.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
Well, I made my dog epic. I was hostage. And that’s where the passion comes from. You’ve got to believe in your product, and you’ve got to project from the diaphragm.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
The diaphragm.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
You’ve got to bend your knees.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
Bend the knees, bend the knees.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
You’ve got to drink ginger.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Drink the ginger.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
You’ve got to ingest apple cider vinegar.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Apple cider vinegar.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
And with a dog bone. You want to chew on the dog bone before the…
Speaker 4 (13:12):
Hard pass. Not going to…
Speaker 3 (13:12):
… recording so that you can emulate the dog. And you should listen to Atomic Dog.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
I can do that.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
But you’re not a dog. But you want to just chew on the bone. The oversized bone, not the regular sized bone. [inaudible 00:13:12]
Speaker 4 (13:12):
Hard pass. Not going to chew on the bone.
