Speaker 1:
We are back with the Make Your Dog Epic Podcast. Now, my name is JT Lawson. Now I’m the Tulsa, Oklahoma location, and today what we’re doing is we’re talking about a Great Dane that is aggressive. Now we talked about that last podcast, but this is a new Great Dane. So a completely different dog, new Great Dane, new story, new time. We’re going to talk about aggressive dogs in Tulsa, so Tulsa aggressive dogs, some would say, and that’s what we’re talking about today.
So this dog, the dog’s name is, I’m going to make up the name, Ferrari. So the dog’s name is Ferrari, because maybe the parents don’t want their dog being talked about, I don’t know. But the dog’s name is Ferrari. It was a 4-year-old Great Dane. Now, what had happened was we had trained a German Shepherd that had dealt with aggression issues, but would get along with Ferrari. So, the German Shepherd we had trained was over there and parents weren’t around. Back gate gets opened up and there’s a little white dog on a walk with their parents. This little white dog, they didn’t know what breed it was, and the German Shepherd runs over and starts barking, right?
Bark, bark, bark, but won’t, doesn’t actually do anything with the dog. And then the Great Dane sprints out and the Great Dane picks up the dog, throws it against the fence and runs back. So the Great Dane ran over, picked up the dog, threw the dog on the fence, ran away. Now, these people who owned the white dog gave this owner an option. They said, “You either get your dog trained or we’re suing you.” Which I actually think is pretty fair. Might be controversial, but that’s pretty fair. Just get your dog trained or we’re suing you, because your dog lit up our dog. Because they could have, and the reason I say that’s fair, it was because they could have just immediately called and had the dog put down.
There’s a lot of very anti-judge dogs and we’ll get into that in a later podcast. But where they’re just very quick to, “Oh, your dog was off leash. All right, put him down. Oh, your dog barked at this person. Put him down. Oh, your dog growled aggressively. He needs to be put down.” There are those judges out there and you can go through the appeal process and you can win and you can do a bunch of stuff with that. But what if we just avoid all that in the first place? But I went to the first lesson. So with us at Make You Dog Epic, anytime we work with aggressive dogs in Tulsa or any Tulsa dog training we do, anytime we train people, the first thing we do, is our first lesson is 50 cents.
And that’s because I want you to be able to experience the whole environment of it, the training, us, make sure we’re a good fit for you before you buy it. Because maybe you come out and you guys don’t like us. That’s fine. Our goal is to have happy dogs and happy owners. So if we’re not the right fit for you, that’s great, that’s fine. We’ve referred other people multiple times when people thought, “Well, actually I really like you guys, but I just don’t think your style of training is right for me.” Or, “Hey, you guys are great. But I really just called because I feel like my buddy’s a trainer. I just want to make sure what he’s saying is correct.” Or whatever it is. But that first lesson is 50 cents and that’s where we’re going to come out. We’re going to work with your dog, go over your dog’s goals.
What his issues are, go over your goals, talk about what the dog’s struggling with, and go over a bunch of stuff, tell you a little bit more about us. And then I’m going to work with your dog in front of you. I’ll bring my dog. That way you can see what a finished dog looks like. And if your dog is aggressive, I’m going to have my dog out so I can show you how we work with that and fix it quickly because I want you to be able to experience how we train. Now, because I don’t want to do anything, any type of training that you’re uncomfortable with or maybe you have, you’ve seen some YouTube videos or Netflix shows or something that you really want to train that specific way. It’s fine. You can see how we train and if it’s a good fit, awesome. If not, it’s fine.
And so we did the first lesson. Mom’s super on board. She’s like, “Yeah, I like your training. Definitely need to get it done. Want to get worked on.” We did one-on-one lessons with this dog. Now, one-on-one lesson means it’s half dog training, half human training. So with us, depending on which package you sign up for and the trainer at the first lesson is going to tell you which one we honestly suggest. And we’ll find something that fits in your budget, that works with it. And that first couple lessons, we’re working with the dog only before we even work with the parents because we want to put a solid foundation in the dog first. So we want to have the dog to have a clear understanding of the commands. That way when we plug parents in, it’s much easier.
That way you don’t really have to do much of the teaching, you’re just getting the commands better. And so we did the first couple lessons, then we plug mom in and the first thing we work on is, come. And come for us is the most important because if that dog sprints across the street and I say, “Come,” and it ignores me, that’s an issue. Just like what happened in this example I’m giving you with Ferrari. Because they saw the dog go out, mom went out the front door, yelled come, dog did not care. And so this command is going to be the one that’s going to save the dog’s life later. So first commands we work on typically is, come, and, off. Off means move away physically and mentally, but not that you’re in trouble. Now that’s key. That part there is key. The not that you’re in trouble because I don’t want the dog to feel like that little white dog’s bad or the mom’s pissed.
It just needs to be, hey, that’s unacceptable. Because if I make the dog feel like it’s in trouble, it’s going to start hating that white dog or me or the mom. And I don’t want that to happen. So it’s just means move away physically and mentally, but not that you’re in trouble. So it’s basically anything you’d say, knock it off, to. So that’s no jumping, licking, biting, growling, counter surfing, all stuff like that. And so that’s the first things we worked on. Next, then we give them a week or two to go over the homework, depends on their goals. And then the next one we work, place. And then last one, we worked, heel. And this dog has always pulled mom.
But now the lesson after that is the customizable lesson, and that’s where you can do whatever you want. So most of the time we suggest a field trip to instead of working at your house to either the park or downtown. So with this dog, we went downtown because there’s always a bunch of dogs and people and mom can walk and was able to walk through stores, walk with that dog, where even though it’s a Great Dane, she only needs three fingers on the leash for control and was able to walk all the way through downtown, past dogs, past people, whatever. And the dog did phenomenal, did really good. And so now she doesn’t get sued, happily ever after. Dog is still doing great. Mom’s super happy and now they get group class forever.
Now, group class, because no matter what you do, if you do one-on-one training or you do a boarding school, you get two free classes a week forever for the rest of the dog’s life. Because I want to be there for Ferrari forever, not just, “Hey here, it’s been a couple of weeks. I know your dog’s doing great right now. May the odds be ever in your favor for the rest of the dog’s life.” No, that’s not how we work here at Make Your Dog Epic. I want to be there for you forever. That’s just one example. Speaker 2:
Is your dog and furry friend holding you hostage? Will your dog not stop pulling on its leash and eating your sausage? Who wrote that? Well, I don’t mean to brag, but I actually wrote it and wow, it rhymes. People dig it. Like a dog. You get it? Okay, so I’m just going to keep reading. Will your dog not stop jumping on you or pooping in your house like you’re on the set of Jumanji or living in a zoo? It only took me two weeks to write that line while sitting at the base of a waterfall while gazing upon my epic dog. The dog that once held me hostage was now my best friend. It’s so good. The dog that would never listen was now all ears.
It’s so good. I just want to cry. Pull yourself together, man. And if you too want to transform your dog from a furry terrorist into your best friend, what you need to do is schedule your first lesson at makeyourdogepic.com, where your first lesson is always just 50 cents. And with the savings, you can use that to pay the rent. Again, your first lesson is always just 50 cents at makeyourdogepic.com. Wow. Stop the endless barking, reduce the aggressive behaviors, prevent dog jumping. Stop your dog from chasing the elderly UPS driver as he attempts to deliver a package. Stop your dog from biting Pam, your yoga pants wearing neighbor as she just attempt to speed walk in peace.
Stop your dog from eating your wife’s wedding dress and pee in your closet on top of your Christmas gifts. Stop the madness at makeyourdogepic.com. Experience the revolutionary focus based positive reinforcement training and methodology. Our goal is dog obedience, but never at the expense of dog personality. It’s the same dog, but now it’s all ears. Wow, man, Carr, you are a talented vocal artist. Well, well. I can sense, I can feel the passion. It’s contagious. Well, my friend, I am passionate about the product. I once went 60 days without sleeping. Really? My wife’s wedding dress got eaten and my neighbor, Pam, was bitten by my dog. Oh, man. My quality of life was at an all time low.
I actually, I didn’t invite people over to my home for months because of the new dog. And I always smelled like urine. You do still smell a little bit like dog urine. Well, I made my dog epic. I was hostage. And that’s where the passion comes from. You’ve got to believe in your product and you’ve got to project from the diaphragm. The diaphragm. To bend your knees. Bend the knees. Drink ginger. Drink the ginger. You’ve got to ingest the apple cider vinegar. Apple cider. And with a dog bone, you want chew on the dog bone before the… Hard pass, I’m not going to… Recording so that you can emulate the dog and you should listen to Atomic Dog. Yeah, I can do that. But you’re not a dog. But you want to just chew on the bone, get the oversized bone, not the regular sized. Hard pass. Not going to, not going to chew on the bone.
